Άδηλοι Τόποι – Απέραντο Λευκό (ΔΤ)

Η Πινακοθήκη Δήμου Κέρκυρας σε συνεργασία με το εργαστήριο Διαδραστικών Τεχνών του Τμήματος Τεχνών ‘Ηχου και Εικόνας, του Ιονίου Πανεπιστημίου, παρουσιάζουν το έργο «Άδηλοι Τόποι – Απέραντο Λευκό» της Μαριάννας Στραπατσάκη. Τα εγκαίνια της έκθεσης είναι την Τετάρτη 5 Νοεμβρίου 2014, στις 20.00. Η διάρκεια της έκθεσης θα είναι 5 Νοεμβρίου – 5 Δεκεμβρίου 2014, ώρες επίσκεψης 18.00 – 21.00 (εκτός Δευτέρας και αργιών).
Η τρικάναλη εγκατάσταση «‘Αδηλοι Τόποι – Απέραντο Λευκό», 2008 (ανήκει στο Εθνικό Μουσείο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης), αποτελεί το τρίτο μέρος της τριλογίας Γέννηση – Ζωή – Θάνατος, η οποία ξεκίνησε μία εικοσαετία νωρίτερα ως ένα έργο σε εξέλιξη, όπου το πρώτο μέρος το οποίο αφορούσε τη Γέννηση παρουσιάσθηκε με τη βίντεο-εγκατάσταση «Τα Φαντάσματα της Μεσογείου η Οι Αντικατοπτρισμοί του Παρελθόντος», 1989 (ανήκει στο Μουσείο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης Κρήτης), και το δεύτερο μέρος το οποίο αφορούσε τη Ζωή με τη βίντεο-εγκατάσταση «Υπόγειες διαδρομές – Λαύριο» 1997, (ανήκει στο Μακεδονικό Μουσείο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης). Μέσα στις βιωματικές εγκαταστάσεις της τριλογίας αυτής, η καλλιτέχνης πραγματεύεται αρχέγονα ερωτήματα αντλώντας από τη σκέψη του Ηράκλειτου και την Αρχαία Ελλάδα.
Είναι από τους πρώτους καλλιτέχνες στην Ελλάδα που αξιοποίησε το βίντεο για την παραγωγή εικόνων με εικαστικούς προβληματισμούς, τομέα που την απασχολεί από τη δεκαετία του1980, όταν με αφετηρία τη ζωγραφική άρχισε να πειραματίζεται με ανακλαστικές επιφάνειες. Η βιντεοκάμερα έγινε γι’ αυτήν μια νέα, τεχνολογική ανακλαστική επιφάνεια, η αρχή μιας εντατικής σχέσης σε ότι αφορά στην ανασύνθεση της εικόνας. Η ποιητική, σχεδόν λυρική προσέγγιση των υπαρξιακών θεμάτων του ανθρώπου με τεχνολογικά μέσα αποτέλεσε τη βάση για τις εγκαταστάσεις της. Η ενσυναίσθηση εικόνας και ήχου αποτελεί σημαντικό στοιχείο του έργου της. Στις εγκαταστάσεις της η Ζωγραφική, η Γλυπτική και το Βίντεο επικοινωνούν με ένα άμεσα διαλεκτικό τρόπο.
Στις τρεις οθόνες της γκατάστασης κεντρικό ρόλο έχει μια λευκοντυμένη γυναικεία μορφή την οποία υποδύεται η σημαντική Γερμανίδα ηθοποιός Katharina Thalbach. Εστιάζοντας αρχικά στο πρόσωπο, το βίντεο την παρουσιάζει σε μια αλληλουχία συναισθηματικών και σωματικών αταστάσεων, όπως πόνους τοκετού, ηδονή, θυμό και οδύνη ενώ παράλληλα, στις δυο παρακείμενες οθόνες, παρουσιάζονται εικόνες που συνδέουν τα ανθρώπινα αυτά πάθη με τους κύκλους ζωής και θανάτου από το ζωικό και φυτικό βασίλειο και με γεωλογικά και μετεωρολογικά φαινόμενα. Οι δυνατές αυτές εικόνες συνοδεύονται από την επιβλητική μουσική του Αντρέα Μνιέστρη.
Το έργο αυτό έχει παρουσιασθεί στο Στρασβούργο (2009) στο apollonia Κέντρο
Ευρωπαϊκών Ανταλλαγών, στο Μουσείο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης Κρήτης (2010), στο Εθνικό
Μουσείο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης (2011), στο Μουσείο Νεοελληνικής Τέχνης της Ρόδου (2011) και προσκλήθηκε να εκπροσωπήσει την Ελλάδα στο αφιέρωμα για τα 50 χρόνια της Βίντεο τέχνης, που οργάνωσε το φεστιβάλ “instants video”, για την Μασσαλία, Πολιτιστική Πρωτεύουσα 2013. Η Μαριάννα Στραπατσάκη ξεκίνησε τις σπουδές της στο Αθηναϊκό Τεχνολογικό Ινστιτούτο, με υποτροφία του Α.Τ.Ι. Το 1969 με υποτροφία της Ακαδημίας Αθηνών, για πέντε χρόνια, συνέχισε τις σπουδές της στο Παρίσι, στην Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts, στο τμήμα Ζωγραφικής και Σχεδίου. Παράλληλα σπούδασε Ιστορία της Τέχνης στην Ecole du Louvre, και Πλαστικές Τέχνες στο Πανεπιστήμιο Paris I, στη Σορβόνη, συμμετείχε επίσης σε σεμινάρια των καθηγητών, Roland Barthes, Rene Huyghe, Paul Lemerle, Michel Foucault, στο College de France.
Εχει πραγματοποιήσει 36 ατομικές εκθέσεις και έχει συμμετάσχει σε 58 ομαδικές εκθέσεις σε όλο τον κόσμο. Εχει διατελέσει επί τριάντα χρόνια καλλιτεχνική διευθύντρια του περιοδικού “Αρχαιολογία και Τέχνες”, ενώ έχει διακριθεί με βραβεία και έχει συμμετάσχει επανειλημμένα ως μέλος κριτικών εικαστικών επιτροπών. Το 2004 διετέλεσε ιδρυτικό μέλος του Τμήματος Τεχνών Ήχου και Εικόνας στο οποίο δίδαξε έως το 2014 ως Αναπληρώτρια Καθηγήτρια και Πρόεδρος του Τμήματος. Έχει πάρει μέρος σε Επιστημονικά Συνέδρια και σε Σεμινάρια Τέχνης. Το έργο της παρουσιάζεται από Ιστορικούς και Κριτικούς Τέχνης στις πλέον έγκυρες εγκυκλοπαίδειες έργων καλλιτεχνών, και σε 150 δημοσιεύσεις του τύπου, του ραδιοφώνου και της τηλεόρασης.

Invisible Places – The Vast White

The Municipal Gallery of Corfu, in collaboration with the Interactive Arts Research Laboratory of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University, presents the work of Marianne Strapatsakis “Invisible Places -‐ The Vast White”. The exhibition opening is on Wednesday, November 5th, 2014, at 20:00. The exhibition will last from 5/11 to 5/12/2014, visiting hours 18:00-‐21:00 (except Mondays and holidays).
The three-channel installation “ Invisible Places – The Vast White”, 2008 (National Museum of Contemporary Art collection), is the third part of the trilogy Birth – Life – Death, which started twenty years earlier as a work in progress. The first part, concerning Birth, was presented with the video installation “The Phantasms of the Mediterranean or The Reflections of the Past”, 1989 (Crete Museum of Contemporary Art collection), while the second part, dealing with Life, resulted in the video-‐installation “Secret Passages – Lavrion” 1997 (Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art collection). Through her experiential installations belonging to this trilogy, the artists tackles with primordial questions, drawing on the thought of Heraclitus and Ancient Greece.
Marianne Strapatsakis has been one of the first artists in Greece to use video for the production of images with artistic concerns and this has been a field of creation since the 1980s, when, starting with concerns on painting, she started experimenting with reflective surfaces. The video-‐camera thus became for her a new technological reflective surface, the beginning of an intensive relationship with the reconstruction of the image. The poetic, almost lyrical approach to existential issues of the human, through the use of technological means, has formed the basis for her installations. The joint experience of image and sound is one of the key elements of the work. On her installations, painting, sculpture and video communicate in a direct dialectic way.
The central role on the three screens of the installation belongs to the female figure dressed in white, impersonated by the major German actress Katharina Thalbach. Initially focusing on the face, the video unfolds a sequence of emotional and physical conditions such as the pain of childbirth, pleasure, sorrow and anger, while on the two adjacent screens present images that relate these passions with the cycles of life and death in the animal and natural environment, and also geological and meteorological phenomena. These powerful images are accompanied by the imposing music of Andreas Mniestris.
This work has been presented in Apollonia Center of European Exchanges in Strasbourg (2009), in the Crete Museum of Contemporary Art (2010), in the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens (2011), in Rhodes’ the Museum of Modern Greek Art (2011) and was invited to represent Greece in the tribute for the 50 years of Video Art, organized by the Festival “Instants Video”, for Marseille Cultural Capital 2013. Marianne Strapatsakis began her studies at the Athens Technological Institute, with a scholarship of A.T.I.. In 1969, with a scholarship from the Academy of Athens, she continued her studies in Paris for 5 years, in Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts, at the Department of Painting and Drawing. At the same time she studied History of Art In Ecole du Louvre, and Plastic arts at the University Paris I, Sorbonne. She also attended seminars of teachers such as Roland Barthes, Rene Huyghe, Paul Lemerle, Michel Foucault, in the College de France.
During her artistic career, she has accomplished thirty six personal exhibitions in Greece, France, England, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Chile and she has participated in fifty eight group exhibitions in Greece, France, Germany, Netherlands, Spain and England.
Marianne Strapatsakis has been one of the founding members of the Audiovisual Arts Department, Ionian University, Corfu, Greece, where she had been teaching as Associate Professor and Head of the Department, from 2004 to 2014. During this time, she also participated in various Scientific Conferences and Art Seminars. Her work is presented in all Dictionaries of Art, and in 150 newspaper and journal articles. It has been also shown on TV and radio broadcasts, and finally has been exhibited in various Festivals in Greece and abroad.
Works of Marianne Strapatsakis belong to several collections in Greece, including the Ministry of Culture, the National Gallery, the National Museum of Contemporary Art, the Eliza and Vasilis Goulandris Museum of Modern Art, the Municipal Gallery of Rhodes, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Crete, the Municipality of Rhodes, the Macedonean Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Byzantine Culture in Thessaloniki, the Viannou Gallery in Crete, the Gallery of Syros, the Harry Antoniou collection, the Periklis Sahinis collection, the K. Fix collection, and abroad in Austria, the T. Karavias collection in New York, and also various private collections in France, Germany, Switzerland and the United States.
